Greetings Sports Fans!

We are entering the second half of the Winter Season and our programs are gearing up for that final push to compete for a city title and hopefully catching lightening in a bottle and making a splash for a deep playoff and state run. Overwhelmingly positive things happening in our programs from the youth all the way up to our high school programs. Our coaches are making a concerted effort to reach out to our feeder programs and making connections with future Wilson student-athletes and the community at large. In fact, you can see some of our youth wrestlers this Thursday at Wilson High School. We will be hosting youth wrestling before the high schoolers hit the mat. Great things continue to happen for our community. We March On!

PCA Leadership Summit
In continuing with our partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, I am extremely excited about the opportunity we are creating with our Spring Programs. We are collaborating on a Leadership Summit where we will have partners from the Positive Coaching Alliance come in and educate and reinforce leadership principles that they can take back to their respective programs.

Spring Sports
If you are planning on going out for a Spring Sport, now is the time to get signed up early. Signing up early allows our office to ensure a smooth transition from winter to spring for our student-athletes but more importantly, it allows the coaches to start their respective seasons smoothly as well without having to worry about who is cleared and who is not. www.familyID.com You can sign up for:
* Baseball
* Softball * Women’s Rugby- Sign up @ https://www.rugbyoregon.com/
* Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse

Wilson Hall of Fame
On Monday, the Wilson Hall of Fame committee will be meeting to discuss the newest candidates for the Wilson Hall of Fame and who we will be nominating for the PIL Hall of Fame as well. I can’t thank this group enough for all of their time and dedication in honoring past Wilson student-athletes and their accomplishments. I hope to announce the newest inductees in next weeks’ Wilson Athletics Weekly. We March On!

A huge thanks goes out to Elena Miller and all the work she is doing to capture some really great pics of our student-athletes. You can see her work at the following site: https://www.flickr.com/photos/63953015@N06/albums

A message from the Booster Club:
Volunteer for concessions today! The Wilson Booster Club manages concession sales at games. All profits are returned to Wilson clubs and sports. In order to offer concessions, volunteers are needed to prepare and sell hot dogs, popcorn, etc. Sign up to help today at http://signup.com/go/VJ19f3. No experience necessary! If you are new to concession volunteering you'll be trained when you arrive. This is a fun way to give back to the Wilson community.

Wilson Athletics
The Swimming Program continues to improve week in and week out. They won again on Friday when they took on Cleveland. They have a short week when they travel to the Columbia Pool on Wednesday to face off against Lincoln and Jefferson. Coach Wiggins and her staff continue to build a competitive, inclusive, and fun program! We March On!

The Women’s Basketball Program is in the middle of a five game road trip and this past week they were at Jefferson and Grant. On Wednesday, the program had a sweep when the JV2 and Varsity battled it out against the Demos. On Friday, they took on the Grant in a battle but couldn’t come out on top in a tight contest. The week doesn’t get any easier when they travel to Benson and Cleveland as they enter round two of league play.

The Men’s Basketball Program continues to grind it out in a very competitive PIL. We hosted two perennial powers in Jefferson and Grant this past week. All levels battled it out with two very talented programs. Coach Lommen and his crew took down the Democrats on Tuesday and on Friday battled with the Generals and came out victorious. We host Benson and Cleveland this week.

We hosted Jefferson, Grant, and Roosevelt in a four-way on Thursday and what a night it was for the program. The team ended up beating Roosevelt and Grant but came up just short against Jefferson. We host youth wrestling this Thursday along with the Cleveland Wrestling Program. If you haven’t made it to a Wrestling Meet yet this year, I highly recommend them and come out and support the squad!
