Greetings Sports Fans!

The end of the Fall Regular Season is almost over and we have had some pretty amazing things happen. Our Volleyball Program capped off a stellar year with an outright 2nd place finish in the PIL and an overall record of 19-3 with 54 sets won and only losing 10! They also had a team GPA of 3.84! The Men’s Soccer Program finished off their regular season with a 7-7 record in a very competitive year and showed resilience all year as they battled it out with some very good soccer programs. The Football Program had a transition year into a new league and competed week in and week out. They improved offensively and defensively this year and the coaching staff is building for the future. The Women’s Soccer Program faced off against some very good competition this year as their pre-season gauntlet tested them and in a much improved PIL as well and finished in 2nd place. They had a combined GPA of 3.89! The Cross Country Program is re-loading with some young talent this year as they head into the PIL Championships this week. And finally, the Unified Soccer Program finished off the regular season going undefeated! They will head to Wilsonville for their end of the year tournament on November 3rd. Great time to be at Wilson High School! We March On!

As we begin a transition into a new sports season, I wanted to take a minute and reflect on how important of a role that high school athletics plays in the lives of our student-athletes and how great it is to have multi-sport athletes at Wilson High School.  High school athletics provides so many opportunities for kids today and can be a vehicle for so many life lessons and when we have kids that do multiple sports, it continues to build the foundation of a great school. The following two articles are good reflection pieces on both topics-

On Sunday, October 21, Wilson High School and the PIL Hall of Fame will induct three new member from Wilson into the PIL Hall of Fame. They are Bryan McMahon, Cathy (Stong)Rhodes, and Jeff Baltus. We inducted all three into the Wilson Hall of Fame last year. We March On!

The Week in Review
The Volleyball Program capped off a fantastic year with a 2nd place finish in the PIL by beating Jefferson and Cleveland this past week. The program also honored their senior class this past week and a huge thanks to the Volleyball Parents and Coaching Staff for making the night fantastic. They will head to South Eugene on Wednesday for the 1st Round of the OSAA State Playoffs. We March On!

Our Football Program traveled to Wilsonville to take on the Wildcats on Friday. The squad battled hard against a very competitive Wildcat program. Tavares Tims and Andy Martinez had some very good scampers for a couple of nice touchdown runs. We will host Benson this Friday for the last regular season game of the year. Can’t say enough about the Football Program and coaching staff. They have done an outstanding job of building a foundation in year two. We March On!

The Men’s Soccer Program finished off the regular season by beating Madison and dropping a tough one against Cleveland. A huge thanks to Mr. Martini for announcing the seniors on Thursday night and to the parents of the senior class for four great years of support for the program. We are waiting for the OSAA Rankings to freeze to see where we land in the playoffs.

Our Women’s Soccer Program capped off the regular season with a convincing win over Madison on Senior Night. A big thanks goes out to the Wendt family for putting together a great pamphlet for the players and to the coaching staff for making the evening special for the outgoing seniors. Thank you senior parents for your time and commitment the past four years. We are waiting for the OSAA Rankings to freeze to see where we land in the playoffs.

Cross Country is geared up and ready for the PIL Championships this Wednesday at Fernhill. Things are shaping up to be a very competitive ending to a great season for the team. They have done an outstanding job of building an inclusive, fun, and competitive Cross Country Program. We March On!
