“Sport teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose, and it teaches you about life.”-Billie Jean King

Greetings Sports Fans!
We had a great week last week for Homecoming Week! A huge shout out to Mr. Muraoka and the Leadership Crew for making the week fun and exciting. Another big shout out to Todd Van Horne and Nike for designing and donating T-Shirts for the Wilson Student Body and Faculty. It was a great week to be a Wilson Trojan! We March On!

We are entering the home stretch of the regular season and our Fall Teams are battling it out for a shot at a city title and playoff positioning. Our Unified Soccer Team is still undefeated after an exciting contest at Rainer Beach. Our Dance Team has had the opportunity to perform in front of the school to show off their skills. The Wilson Athletic Leadership Council had our first meeting of the year and we are focused on making Wilson an amazing place for our student-athletes and community. And our community of amazing teachers nominated and we selected our September Trojan Student-Athletes of the Month, Jaden Sturgeon and Chloe Unflat. Two outstanding student-athletes who represent Wilson with the utmost integrity. A great time to be a part of the Wilson Community. We March On!

As we approach the end of the Fall Season and approach the playoffs for our programs, I think it is important to remember the power of positivity and believing in your teammates and coaches. The following links are quick reminders about the power of belief and maintaining a mental edge when competing. https://d3kv8ayplk3lle.cloudfront.net/sites/uploads/files/EYG_1_6.pdf https://open.spotify.com/episode/0OYiBNAShB5P3kpICdnCBD?si=sORGcfKHQti1weEFyEv7YQ

Their next meet is on Saturday at the Warner Pacific Classic.

The Men’s Soccer Program had a great week of soccer. The Varsity bounced back and took down the Rough Riders 2-0. The JV Team won against Roosevelt as well. The JV2 Team had a great week as well taking down Lincoln and Franklin. The Program has a big week when they take on Franklin on Monday and then play in a Varsity double-header at Lincoln on Friday. Big week for the program. We March On!

The Women’s Soccer Program had an equally good week with the Varsity squad taking down the Roosevelt Rough Riders with an impressive 4-0 win and the JV Team won as well. The JV2 Team had an impressive win over the Franklin Quakers on Monday. The Program has a big week as they battle it out for a chance at the city title and playoff positioning. We March On!

Our Football Program had a big week with the JV2 Team taking on Hillsboro on Monday. The guys battled it out but just couldn’t find some momentum and came up short in their efforts. They play at Parkrose on Monday. The Varsity squad took on Parkrose on Friday and competed until the final horn. We came up just short but have a chance to bounce back when we host Scappoose for a Thursday night contest. March On!

Finally, the Volleyball Program battled it out this past week with the Program taking on Franklin, Roosevelt, and cross town rival Lincoln. The Program did great with the Varsity taking down Franklin and Roosevelt but came up short against Lincoln. The JV and JV2 Programs had a clean sweep this week! The Varsity sits in second place with an impressive 16-3 overall record so far. We face off with Madison this week.
