Greetings Sports Fans!

The first day of school is tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing the hallways filled with our students as they navigate the halls of Wilson and hopefully the air quality stays clear as we begin to start having contests and practices more regularly.  That also means that schedules and life are going to get a little more hectic with the rigors of classwork, homework, and on top of that, being a student-athlete. The following link from our partners at the Positive Coaching Alliance is a helpful tip on nutrition, which can never be overlooked as an athlete.  The other link is helpful reminder about what makes a great teammate.

A huge thanks to Leanne and Jim Van Horn for hosting the Brats and Brews Party yesterday at their house. We had a great turnout and it was great to get to talk to some of our community members as well. Thanks again Leanne for hosting and putting on a great event!

Thank you to all the coaches, players, and student-athletes who attended the Fall Sports Kick Off on Tuesday Night. It is important for the community to hear the vision for the Athletic Department and equally important to hear the vision and meet the coaches of the program that your son or daughter is participating in. We March On!

A message from the Booster Club:

Volunteer for concessions today!  The Wilson Booster Club manages concession sales at games. All profits are returned to Wilson clubs and sports. In order to offer concessions, volunteers are needed to prepare and sell hot dogs, popcorn, etc.  Sign up to help today at  No experience necessary!  If you are new to concession volunteering you'll be trained when you arrive. This is a fun way to give back to the Wilson community.

All of the Fall Schedules have been posted on the OSAA website, including the JV2 Men’s and Women’s Soccer schedules. You can also visit our website for all things Wilson with live updates.

The Week in Review:

The Volleyball Program traveled to Oregon City for their first taste of competition in the Oregon City Jamboree. They faced off against Canby, Tigard, Oregon City, and Tualatin and finished off the day going 3-1 against some quality 6A opponents. In their first match against Canby, they came back from a ten point deficit behind the serving of Kaija Shreeve to come back and win. They start league play this week with Benson at home on Tuesday and then travel to Grant on Thursday. On Saturday, the Varsity squad will travel to Southridge to play in their tournament. Coach Mendak and his staff continue to build the foundation of a competitive, inclusive, and fundamentally sound Volleyball Program! March On!

The Women’s Soccer Program started off the year on the road with a match in Grants Pass. They ended up tying 1-1 against a very competitive Grants Pass soccer program.  They get right back after it on Monday this week as we host Mountainside for a Varsity and JV contest and then both teams travel to Glencoe on Wednesday.  Looking forward to watching the program grow under the leadership of Coach Bundy and his coaching staff.

The Men’s Soccer Program also kicked off their year against Grants Pass as well with a dominating performance against a team that finished in the top ten in the state last year winning 4-0! Three different Wilson players scored in the contest and played some outstanding defense as well. The Varsity and JV programs don’t have any contests this week. The JV2 Program opens up their season on Wednesday when we host Mountainside at Rieke.

The Cross Country Program opened up their 2018 campaign in Wilsonville for the annual twilight meet where they host 45 different programs from around the state. For many of the runners, it was their first time competing wearing the Wilson Shield. The sophomore and senior men runners placed 2nd out of 45 teams! The freshmen/sophomore men’s team and the senior women’s team won their divisions! The Wilson Varsity Runners of Fran Ieruli, Zoe Anderson, Guiliano Scasso, Caden Samkutty, and Finn Tyvoll all placed in the top ten! We March On!

The Football Program faces it first opponent of the season when we host the S. Eugene Ax on Thursday for a JV2 Football contest. On Friday, the Varsity will travel to S. Eugene for their first Varsity contest. I know they are chomping at the bit to get after it and face an opponent other than themselves. Looking forward to a great year of Wilson Football!
