Greetings Sports Fans!

It is hard to believe that we are winding down another school year and another year in Wilson Athletics! I can’t say enough about our coaching staff, student-athletes, teachers, and community. Wilson is an amazing place to send your child to school and our Athletic Programs do an outstanding job of creating fun, inclusive, and competitive programs. We March On!

The Track Program had a great showing at the State Track Meet this weekend.  Francesca Iurelli finished 7th in the 3000m and 6th in the 1500m.  Fantastic showing for Francesca who is only a Junior! Our own Izzy Esler finished 6th in the Javelin and throws a school record 125’9” and she is only a Freshmen! Mason Lommen finished 7th in the High Jump and will be back next year as well. Finally, Alex Slenning finishes out his high school career by coming in 2nd place in the 3000m and capped it all off by winning the State Title in the 1500m. What a way to finish of a fantastic high school career as one of the most decorated high school runners in Wilson history.

The Women’s Lacrosse Program faced off against St. Mary’s in the first round of the state playoffs and came up short in their efforts. A huge shout out to the athletes and coaches for an exciting year of Women’s Lacrosse and with a strong nucleus of returners, they should be poised to do some damage next season.

The Men’s Lacrosse Team traveled to Sheldon on Friday night to take on the Irish. We came out the victors winning 12-11 in the first round of the state playoffs. They will travel to OES on Tuesday to take on the Ardvarks.

The JV Men’s Lacrosse Program finished off their season by winning the PIL JV Championship Tournament at Grant High School. They beat cross town rival Lincoln in Double Overtime and came from behind to be Cleveland for the title!

The Men’s and Women’s Tennis Programs wrapped up their seasons with some real strong showings at the State Tennis Tournament. On the Women’s side, Eryn Fiabane had a strong first round before falling in the second. A great showing for only a Freshmen! On the Men’s side, Caden Samkutty and the Doubles Team of Shawn Sussman and Drew Wiley all had strong first rounds before falling in the second. All are returners as well. The future is really bright for both programs and I cannot say enough about both coaching staffs.

Women’s Golf finished off a fantastic season by winning the PIL Title and sending the team down to Corvallis for the State Tournament. They squad competed and finished 12th at the State Tournament. They will bring back a strong nucleus of players as well.

The Softball Team travels to Glencoe to take on the Tide on Monday in the first round of the State Playoffs. First pitch is at 5pm. Hope to see you there!

The Baseball Program will travel to Skavone to take on Central Catholic in the first round of the State Playoffs on Monday. Their first pitch will be at 5pm as well. Come out and support the squad!
