Greetings Sports Fans!
We are in the home stretch of the regular season for most of our Winter Sports. Unified Basketball has been on a tear winning their last six games in row including their tournament at Forest Grove last weekend and big win over Grant on Friday. The Wrestling Program is gearing up for districts this Friday and our Women Wrestlers had a great showing at their State Seeding Meet over the weekend. The Swim Program continues to improve as they prepare for districts this Friday as well. The Men’s and Women’s Basketball Programs have two weeks left in the regular season as they make a final push. And our Cheerleading Program had a great weekend in Tualatin at their competition over the weekend. Can’t thank our coaches and student-athletes enough for their hard work and commitment this long winter season! We March On!

Wilson Cheer
Our Wilson Youth Cheer Team and our Varsity Team participated at the Last Chance Tualatin Competition over the weekend. The Youth Team had a great showing while on the Varsity Side, Martina DiSegni, Ashley Eddy, Violet Dachtler, and Kathleen Vaught all participated in the Competition Stunt portion of the event and came in 2nd Place! It was a great routine for the team and they did an outstanding job of representing Wilson! Our new Cheer Coaches, Lynsey Smith and Maya Berns continue to provide a great experience for our Cheer Team!

Unified Basketball
The Unified Basketball Program continues to have great success on the court winning their last six games in a row and two big ones over their PIL rivals in Cleveland and Grant along with taking first place at the Forest Grove tournament last weekend. We have a big event for the team on February 19th when we host Mountainside. The Band and the Cheer Team will be there to help support our team. Come out and support all the great work the Unified Program provides our school!

Wilson Swim
The Wilson Swimming Program is gearing up for Districts this week and they picked up a big win over Franklin on Wednesday of this past week. The JV Team had a great showing at Districts this past week as well with the Varsity their cheering them on as well. The team and swimmers are pumped for Varsity Districts this Friday! A huge thanks to the coaching staff for providing an inclusive and competitive program for Wilson!

Wilson Wrestling
The Wrestling Program had a great week this past week. We took down Benson on Wednesday night that capped off undefeated seasons for both Gus Johnson and Jack Walker! We also said goodbye to four outstanding senior Wrestlers as well, Shaho Meman, Jack Walker, Jesse Brodrick, and Christian Mondero. Over the weekend, we sent our Women’s Wrestling Team to Districts at Century High School. Madyson Day qualified for the State Meet and the entire team had a great showing! A huge thanks to the coaching staff for all of their efforts this year not only continuing to grow the high school program but their efforts at growing our youth program as well!

Men’s Basketball
The Men’s Basketball Program had a good week splitting their contests between Jefferson and Benson. On Thursday, the entire program had a sweep that was capped off with Varsity nail biter that came down to the last shot of the game. Logan Robertson hit a big three in the waning seconds of the game and Benson could not convert on their last possession. We will host Franklin on Tuesday and then they travel to Roosevelt on Friday.

Women’s Basketball
Our Women’s Basketball Program is in the last weeks of the regular season. The Varsity Program is fighting for a playoff spot with two big games this week as well against Franklin and Roosevelt. The JV and JV2 squads continue to improve this season as well. The entire staff has been doing and outstanding job of creating a fun and inclusive program. They too have done a great job of having a huge impact on the youth program as well.

Spring Sports
With spring sports right around the corner, a couple of quick things. First, it is never too early to sign up for a spring sport, you can do that at and the process is easy, especially if you already have an account set. Finally, spring coaches are utilizing the 6A rule of six hours per week of fundamental and program building. If you have any questions or are looking for schedules of workouts, please visit our website to reach out to the coaching staff.

School Modernization Efforts
I am sure you are all aware that there are three schools that are still waiting to hear if the school board is going to put Cleveland, Jefferson, and Wilson on the 2020 Ballot for a bond proposal. As a community member, former teacher, and now serving as your Athletic Director, I cannot stress how important it is to make your voices heard regarding this issue. Write, email, or call our school board and let them know how important it is for the final three PPS Schools to be on the next ballot. Our community of students and athletes deserve a new facility!

The WHS Dance Team
This team is about teaching not only dance but also long-term memory, timing, spatial awareness and fun. Traffic is a planned execution. Choreography, your own moves, your songs and more. Join us in performance and competition for the year 2020! We are hoping to perform and compete in 2020. You are welcome to tryout. We will hold additional tryouts on May 1st.
